I had many reservations such as, ‘looking for jobs is boring’ and ‘reviewing resumes can be mundane’ (and they can be!). Low and behold I discovered there is much more beneath the surface of this profession! Most importantly, I was attracted to the coaching and mentoring aspect of this work through building relationships with students, and professionals in various industries. Shortly after graduating from my counseling program, I accepted my first full job as a career coach for a private institution called Mercy College. I then returned to my alma mater for the M.A. Counseling Program, Montclair State University, as an Admissions Counselor and after a year transitioned to a Career Advisor role. Throughout this time, I engaged in many career and professional development topics through various classroom discussions, workshops and webinars. Such topics included resume and cover letter assistance, networking, interview preparations, and major exploration. Most recently, I served as a Campus & Early Talent Recruiter for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York where I built the internship pipelines and developed programs to ensure interns had a fulfilling experience.
